About Ian Haugh and beyond thinking

Ian and family

Diane, Ian and their son Frankie

I live with my wife and son in an idyllic village near Stonehenge in Wiltshire.

I was born and brought up in Liverpool where I was educated before going to Warwick University to study Engineering Science in 1978.

After leaving university I moved to London and spent 4 years with an Australasian travel company learning my trade as an accountant, starting out as a ledger clerk and working my way up to European Financial Controller.

In 1986 I was head hunted by Citibank to head up the finance function of their international information business in the City of London. During my 6 years with Citibank I qualified as Chartered Certified Accountant through home study whilst progressing up the organisation and into general management.

Life Change

In 1992 I decided it was time for change, particularly, away from London to where I live now. I worked as a self-employed Interim Manager on long term projects over the following 7 years. A number of these organisations sought me out at a later date to ask me to work for them permanently.

During this time I was introduced to The Psychology of Vision (PoV), attended my first seminar and discovered the life changing model that has become central to how I live my life.

In 1999 I was approached by a local manufacturing company and joined them as Finance Director, a year later I joined Townsends Solicitors in the post of Chief Executive. When Townsends merged with another firm I took the opportunity to go for what I really wanted to do, which was to finish my training and become a PoV trainer which I achieved by January 2004.

Since then I have been delivering coaching, training and workshops and have continued with my own personal development and research. I created beyond thinking to present and deliver my work.

Partnership – Key to Success

beyond thinking is a partnership created by my wife (Diane Gilpin) and me some years ago.

Diane’s dedication is to developing environmentally neutral engineering solutions primarily in the energy generation and transportation sectors. She does this work with the B9 Energy Group, about which you can find out more by visiting their website.

My own dedication is to supporting organisations through the challenges we face in an era of rapid and fundamental change. To bring understanding of the changes in attitude and philosophy we need to make. Part of that understanding is that we must embrace these changes, transforming ourselves and our organisations. Simply ticking the boxes will not be enough.

Society, and so the organisations that form a part of society, is faced with the challenge of evolving from the Independent stage – which has lasted the last 50 years or so – into the Interdependent stage. This requires an overhaul not simply of what we do, but of why and how we do it.
