I do a small amount of private coaching, most of which comes through referrals.
These coaching sessions take place either in my own home or over the phone. Telephone coaching may sound challenging to some but I coach many people from the UK, Europe, North America and the Far East in this way and it is as effective as working face to face.
No two coaching sessions are the same, there is no set formula or agenda. My part is to guide you to an understanding of yourself and the people around you so that you can develop your own strategies for success and happiness.
Coaching can help in a number of ways: Sometimes it’s helpful simply to be able to talk to someone who is not involved in the situation at hand. This can help clarify both the real issues involved and what it is that needs to be addressed.
How You’re Feeling is Important
At other times people want to be heard and understood, whilst our point of view is not always valid, something a good coach will help us recognise, how we feel about a situation really does matter – many of us seem to believe that how we feel is either unfounded or wrong in some way - but clarifying how we feel about a situation is a first step to understanding why we feel that way and so, what we have to address within ourselves to feel better about it.
Understanding ourselves and others is one of the keys to improving our relationships – not just with other people but with “things” like our job – 20 years studying human psychology has given me a profound understanding of why people are the way they are, why they do the things they do and of the dynamics underlying our relationships. This means that I can help you see beyond people’s behaviour to the causes of that behaviour, giving you the ability to respond to the essence of what’s going on, rather than the presentation.
Choose the Right Coach for You
Coaching is widely recognised as a powerful aid to both personal and professional development but it’s important to find the right coach for you and what you want to achieve from your coaching. There are a lot of coaches out there, some great, some not so great. Personal contact is the only way to be sure that you’re comfortable with anyone acting as your coach. If you think that you might benefit from coaching, you should contact me and we can talk about whatever it is that’s on your mind and you can make your own decision about whether I’m the right coach for you.
